Why is My Blog Not Attracting Traffic?

Have you often wondered why some blogs are immensely liked by readers and shared a lot online? Are you pondering on why your blog is not able to generate good organic traffic despite you putting in your best efforts?

Well, there are more than a billion websites and millions and millions of blogposts, articles and news items online. With so many articles and blogs written regularly and on similar topics, it is vital to be useful and at the same time stand out from the crowd.

If you are a relatively new blogger or an experienced blogger who is finding it difficult to pull free traffic to your site, then I recommend that you continue reading. See where you fit and subsequently make the required changes to raise your chances of attracting organic visitors.

1) Started Now

Be realistic. If you are a newbie, with just one or two blog posts to your credit, then it is highly unlikely to find thousands of people flocking to your site to read it. On the contrary, it will take a couple of months to make your blog visible to readers and get traffic to your site.

In the meantime, be patient and persistent in your attempts to write in an engaging and informative manner. Learn how to insert relevant keywords in your post. Also take time to make your blog design look neat and professional. These crucial aspects are fundamental in not only helping you become a good blogger but also making your blog search engine friendly.

2) Your Headlines are Boring

More often that not, you would visit a site after reading its title. This is the exact rule that you should apply while writing an article. If your headline is bland and boring, no matter how good your content is, you are not going to capture reader attention.

If you want your blog posts to do well, then it important to write a catchy and clickable headline. Make your content worth the traffic it deserves by writing by knowing the basics of writing a powerful headline.

3) Infrequent Posting

Do you write when you feel like writing? Do you feel that you are not getting sufficient time to write? Do you have no good ideas to write on and hence the delay? The reasons for not writing and posting are many. However, these are just excuses. You really need to pull up your socks if you want readers to return to your site on a regular basis.

To gain loyal readership, it important that you post fresh content consistently. It is as simple as that. Take the time out to write articles regularly and plan to post it on scheduled days. For example, if you plan to write and post daily, then do so. If you plan to write bi-weekly and post it on specific days (for example Friday and Sunday), then do so. Just stick to a writing and posting schedule and be consistent with it.

4) Uninteresting or Irrelevant Content

Readers come visiting any website in the hope of finding useful and interesting material. If you are not helping them with that or writing irrelevant stuff or your writing style sucks, then no matter how much you write or what internet marketing tricks you use, it will not help your website grow.

Focus on your writing skills. Read popular blogs to know how they write. It will help you a lot. Again, it is not that difficult to write articles that are engaging and inspiring too. 5) Clueless about SEO

For a start, SEO is the abbreviated form of Search Engine Optimization. In lay man terms, it is the process by which you get natural and free traffic to your blog from major search engines like Google, Bing etc., because your posts, images or videos have ranked high on  their search results due to its relevancy to users.

Google or any other search engine will rank top webpages from the million others through their series of algorithms. This is not in your hands. But what you need to do is optimize your site. And you can do that by understanding various SEO techniques and diligently following the best SEO practices in your posts.

6) Insufficient Distribution to Social Media and Social Bookmarking Sites

Just posting an article, image or video on your website is not going to draw high traffic to your website. You need to take sufficient and regular steps to promote it. Unless you promote your content, people will not know that you or your site exists.

In today’s day and time, social media plays an important role in getting your content known to millions of people online.  Post your article/video on your website and share it on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, Instagram, Tumblr, etc. The more you share, the higher are the chances of your article/blog getting noticed and read by people.

Remember, all these are free ways of promoting your content. So do not throw away such wonderful opportunities.

To conclude, not writing, posting and promoting enough or waiting in front of your PC in the hope of attracting traffic with just a few posts to your credit are all hindrances to your blog not getting noticed. Just work on the inadequacies that you have and make necessary changes to popularize your site and gain consistent traffic.
